Tyler began training in the martial arts in 2007 after finishing a college football career at the University of Findlay, where he also earned his degree in Strength & Conditioning. He had his first Amateur Mixed Martial Arts fight in 2008, under the coaching of Gary Young (Demolition Fight Team). He held an Amateur MMA record of 9-2 before turning professional in 2010; his current professional MMA record is 6-2. He has headlined 4 professional cards, and has fought on National TV 3 times.

Coach Tyler began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Juan Vasquez III with Ribeiro Jiu-Jitsu in 2013. In the next 4 years, he earned 3 World titles. He won Master Worlds at blue belt in 2014, Master Worlds at purple belt in 2015, and Master No-Gi Worlds at brown belt in 2016.

In addition to his 3 world titles, Coach Tyler has also won multiple IBJJF tournaments in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and Montreal. He has also won numerous regional tournaments, including the multiple Grappling Industries tournaments, the Michigan Open, and the Ohio State Grappling Championships.

In 2014, Tyler also won gold at the Abu Dhabi World Trials. This earned him a ticket to Abu Dhabi for the World Pro Championships in the United Arab Emirates located in the Middle East.

In the future, Tyler hopes to follow in the footsteps of his professor, Jorge Britto, by creating more world champions and building an academy centered around the tenets that they both find important - honor, loyalty, respect, discipline, hard work, and an overall goal of building character.

Amy Beckley

Certified IBJJF Purple Belt under Tyler Beckley, Assistant Kids Instructor

Amy is our assistant coach for our kid’s classes. She comes to our academy in a role as a coach after multiple years of running FJJA on the business side.  Amy is the wife of FJJA head coach Tyler Beckley and decided to start her own BJJ journey in May of 2018.  Since receiving her blue belt in 2020, she has been an instrumental part of the growth in our kid’s classes and their development.

Amy takes her experience of working with children to the mats as she has been in the education field since 2007. Amy has over 16 years of experience teaching a variety of grade levels (Kindergarten through 12th grade). Years of experience working with children have shaped Amy into a perfect candidate to coach young people in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  Amy also was a former NCAA athlete (University of Findlay Softball 2001-2005) so her years of teaching, competing, and now Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are helping shape the future of our academy!
